Fishing in Croatia

Smaller fish can be caught bottom fishing and deep sea fishing in Croatia with pieces of natural bait such as sardines, worms, squid of shrimp. You'd reel in smaller reef fish such as scorpion fish, black spot sea bream, snapper, jack, conger, etc.

Deep sea fishing in Croatia and off shore rolling lures such as Black Bart, Blue Water Candy, Rapala, Yo-zuri, or Halco pelagic fish like Bonito, Mahi-Mahi (Dolphin fish), bluefish, leerfish, little tunny & tuna can be hooked. During summer time, the captains start the fishing adventure early in the morning (the fishing trip may start at 4 or 5 AM) because this is the time when the professional fishing boats lift their sardine-nets. Obviously, this concentrates a lot of tuna in the area. For bluefin tuna fishing in Croatia the charters use big game fishing tackle from 80lb to 120lb (Shimano Tiagra, Penn, Avet, Alutecnos, Daiwa...). This heavy tackle is necessary to be able to land these big fish.

As they love warm water, summer and autumn is the best time for bluefin tuna fishing in Croatia (April - November).
