These waters are known for Albacore Tuna, Bigeye Tuna, Blackfin Tuna, Bluefin Tuna, Longtail Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Amberjack, Almaco Jack, Barracuda, Dentex, Wahoo, Skipjack Tuna, and more – with any luck, you’ll hook into a few! You’ll target your catch by light tackle fishing, popping, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Filippo can also help you try kite fishing. For the more adventurous among you, there’s spearfishing.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. You’re welcome to bring snacks so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty stomach!
Your trip begins aboard a 26’ Robalo center console that can carry up to 5 passengers. It has outriggers and everything else you need for a productive day on the water. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. You’ll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is available, but you should ask the captain whether you’ll be catching it yourself.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, so all you have to do is look forward to your trip! Keep in mind that some fish may have harvest limits or closed seasons. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
Don’t leave home without sunglasses, a hat, and sunblock (non-spray). There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks available on board.
Now, time to hit the water with Fish `N Chips!
